Mind Power

You may think that mind power has to do with the subconscious mind. Mind power is actually our conscious mind in the form of our thoughts, because we are generally aware of our thoughts. The conscious mind allows us to be aware of our emotions, imagination and thoughts. Our subconscious mind deals with the mental processes that go on without consciously being aware of them as well as making up our personality.

Our minds also reflect our habitual thoughts, the thoughts and beliefs we have held since childhood. If we are to improve our lot in life, we need to take on the effort to influence our thought processes with positive emotions and positive thoughts. By focusing on the past and what you are today because of it, you will set up the same universal vibration that will manifest into the same type of situations that was set up in your past.

Mind power is much more than positive thinking because it is not just thinking that increases our brain power, but also believing in your thoughts that will eventually manifest into reality. We must continually monitor our thoughts to keep negativity away. This means you must stop focusing on the past and let go of betrayals, hurts and other facts of life. Holding on to grudges and anger can cause real problems and will only attract anger and negativity.

We can re-map our minds with visualization and affirmations, which are vividly imagining along with positive declarations you, say out loud on a regular basis. By doing this, you will be feeding your subconscious mind with positive thoughts that will provide for positive change. You are re-tuning your mental vibrations to specific vibrations on the inner planes of the universe, which in turn will resonate with your desires.

Affirmations are a great way to increase mind power, especially in your subconscious. The mind cannot distinguish what is real and what is thought and by the constant repetition of your affirmations, you will have an impact on your subconscious.

Listening to ! motivati onal tapes, guided meditations or tapes on self-hypnosis will also help to increase mind power. There are some good tapes on the Internet. Guided meditation is a great way to learn to visualize. The more you are able to meditate, the better and faster developing your mind power will be.

Another important part of manifesting change is to be absolutely clear in your intentions and what you desire. It is a good idea to write down what you desire in detail. Read it everyday, preferably when you awake in the morning and then 'see' it in vivid detail. Act as if this already happened.

Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English: An Introductory guide to Deeper States of Meditation

Every meditation tradition explains that there are two aspects to any effective meditation practice: insight and concentration. In Mindfulness in Plain English, author Bhante Henepola Gunaratana, a monk from Sri Lanka and venerated teacher of Buddhism, offered basic instruction on the meaning of insight (or vipassana) meditation through concepts that could be applied to any tradition. In Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English, he presents the levels of concentration with the same simplicity and humor that made the previous book so successful. The focus here is on the Jhanas, those meditative states of profound stillness and concentration in which the mind becomes fully immersed and absorbed in the chosen object of attention. Using the Jhanas to guide readers along the path to joy, happiness, equanimity, and one-pointedness, the author provides all of the instruction necessary to utilize meditation as a tool for building a more fulfilling life.
