Sore feet, aching limbs and the mid-afternoon slump are all enemies of the ambitious tourist. Now, visitors to Paris can turn those unpleasantries into sweet dreams with a new "bar" devoted to naps. Located in the heart of the city, the Zen Bar à Sieste (29 Passage Choiseul; www.barasieste.com), the Zen Nap Bar, offers a dark and peaceful spot for a moment of rest.

"In certain Asian countries, the siesta is mandatory. It helps us recuperate our physical and intellectual energy and find calm," said Christophe Chanhsavang, who opened the nap bar in September. "I wanted to adapt the custom to Parisian life."

Before proceeding to one of the bar's four floors, visitors are asked to remove their shoes and don slippers. Upstairs, rolling jade stone shiatsu massage beds and anti-gravity chairs in dimly lit curtained chambers welcome the weary, while headphones playing soft music completely block the outside world. A 15-minute nap costs 12 euros, about $ 16; manicures, pedicures and head and foot massages are also available.

"For tourists, this is better than a cafe, where you're often uncomfortable, badly seated, and unable to rest," said Mr. Chanhsavang. "Our naps are accessible, energizing – and above all, short."

Zen Bar à Sieste is open Monday to Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. Closed Sunday.
